This article explains the procedure of disabling device settings application.
Settings disable functionality works ONLY on Kiosk and Work Managed policies.
1. Login to AMGuard account with your credentials
2. The landing page would be Devices where list of enrolled device is seen
3. Go to "Policy Groups" and from the list of policies you can go the policy group to which you are willing to restrict settings access. Point to remember here is, this restriction is available on Kiosk and Work managed policies.
4. In the policy pop-up window, clicking Policy tab
5. Now go to Security tab and notice "Disable Settings" restriction right on top
6. By default it is turned OFF, meaning user will have access to settings on the device, to turn it ON click on the toggle button. You will notice an option to enter settings app package name, however by default "com.android.settings" is added.
Note: For most of the OEMs (as per our analysis), com.android.settings will be the package name for Settings app.
7. You can proceed to add other package name/s by clicking on "+" (plus) icon
8. To reflect the changes on the device save the policy by clicking on "Save and Continue"
9. Once the device/s sync with the policy settings app will be greyed out on the device. Clicking on greyed out icon prompts custom short message, indicating the user to contact admin.
